Why do I see both “Notarial Fees” and “Travel/Service Fees” listed?
Washington State law sets the maximum fee for a notarial act at $15 for in-person notarization and $25 for remote notarization. Any additional charges (such as travel, after-hours, or rush service) are separate service fees. These are always disclosed in advance and agreed upon before your appointment.

What’s included in the travel fee?
The travel fee covers my time and expenses for coming to your location. The base fee applies for clients within 10 miles of Everett, with an additional per-mile charge for longer distances.

Do you charge extra for evenings, weekends, or holidays?
Yes. Because these times are outside standard business hours, I apply a small after-hours or holiday fee. This ensures I can remain flexible and available when you need me most.

Can I get an exact quote before booking?
Absolutely. I provide a clear breakdown of all costs (notarial fee, travel, service fees, etc.) before confirming your appointment. That way, there are no surprises.

What about apostille and translation services?
The Washington Secretary of State charges $15 per document for apostilles. My fee covers handling, processing, and optional pickup/delivery. Translation fees are based on language, length, and complexity. Expedited or rush service may include an additional charge.

How does Remote Online Notarization (RON) work?
With RON, we meet through a secure, state-approved online platform. You upload your document, verify your identity, and then sign electronically while I witness and notarize in real time. Once complete, you’ll receive a digitally notarized document immediately.

What ID is acceptable for notarization?
Washington law requires a valid, government-issued photo ID, such as:

  • State driver’s license or ID card

  • U.S. passport

  • Permanent resident card (Green Card)

  • Military ID

  • Certain foreign passports (if machine-readable and scannable)

The ID is verified electronically during the session.

Is it secure?
Yes. The platform uses encrypted video conferencing and identity-proofing tools (like credential analysis and knowledge-based authentication) to protect your information. The session is recorded and securely stored as required by Washington law.

Can I use RON if I’m outside Washington State?
Yes — as long as I am physically located in Washington at the time of the notarization, you can be located anywhere in the world.

What does it cost?
Remote notarizations are $25 per notarial act (the maximum allowed by Washington State). Additional service fees may apply for after-hours or rush requests.

Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A small deposit is required to secure your appointment. This helps cover travel time and ensures that your requested time slot is reserved.

  • Mobile notary appointments require a $25 deposit, applied toward your final balance.

  • Loan signing appointments require a $50 deposit, applied toward your final balance.

  • And apostille services require a larger $100 deposit, applied toward your final balance.

  • Deposits are refundable if cancelled more than 24 hours before your appointment. If cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice or if the signer is unavailable at the appointment, the deposit is non-refundable.

  • Rescheduling: With at least 24 hours’ notice, your deposit can be applied to a rescheduled appointment within 14 days.

What is the Hague Apostille Convention?

The Hague Apostille Convention is an international treaty that makes it easier to use U.S. documents in other countries. Normally, documents like birth certificates, notarized forms, or diplomas would need multiple certifications — from your state, the U.S. Department of State, and the foreign country.

If the country you’re sending your documents to is a member of the treaty, a single apostille (a special certificate issued by the Secretary of State) is all that’s needed. This certificate verifies that your document is authentic, so it will be accepted abroad without extra steps.

In short: the apostille saves time, simplifies paperwork, and ensures your documents are legally recognized internationally.
